Sailor Marketplace is a platform that connects buyers and independent sellers. We are not the seller of goods listed by third parties.
Eligibility
Sellers / Vendors: You must be 18 years or older, hold a valid South African ID or passport, and have the legal capacity to contract. No person under 18 may register as a seller or vendor on SAILOR MARKETPLACE.
Close Corporations / Companies: The representative registering the business must be 18 years or older and duly authorised to bind the entity to these terms.
Buyers: You must be 18 years or older. If you are between 13 and 17, you may only make purchases with the consent and under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
Verification
SAILOR MARKETPLACE may request identity verification at any time to confirm your age and identity. Any seller or vendor account found to belong to a person under 18 will be suspended immediately and any pending payouts withheld pending verification.
Children & POPIA
In line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), we do not knowingly allow children under 13 to register an account or have personal information processed on the platform. If you believe a child under 13 has registered, please contact us immediately so we can remove the account.
Sellers agree
You are an independent contractor, not an employee. You warrant that your goods are legal, not counterfeit, and you own them. We charge 10% commission on each sale.
Independent Resellers
Independent resellers are third parties. Sailor does not verify authenticity beyond the seller's own warranty. Buyers must verify authenticity before purchasing. Sailor is not liable for counterfeit claims between a buyer and a reseller, but will suspend the seller if a product is proven to be fake. Independent resellers must confirm at registration that they are solely responsible for authenticity, warranty, and returns of the products they list.
Payments
All payments are processed by Paystack South Africa using Split Payments. Funds sit in Paystack balance, not in our business bank account for escrow. Seller payouts: Mondays and Thursdays, or 5 days after buyer confirms delivery.
Suspension
We may suspend any seller who fails KYC, sells illegal goods, or receives 3+ valid disputes.
